Your own Mendix team in 90 days

Not in a year. Not ‘if it works out’. In 90 days. We know how to do it, because we’ve already done it for many organizations.

Who is this roadmap for?

Three profiles, one goal: in-house low-code capability in your organization.

CTO / CIO

You want to build in-house capability fast, without a months-long transformation project.

Team Lead / PM

You’ve been told to ‘figure out Mendix’ and you need a concrete plan, not theory.

Transformation lead

Your company uses or is considering Mendix and you don’t want to depend on external vendors forever.

Most companies wait for years

They pay external vendors, lose the know-how after every project and never scale. Each new project starts from scratch, because the knowledge left with the contractor. It doesn’t have to be this way.

Not sure whether Mendix is the right platform?

We built an interactive game that compares low-code platforms. No theory, just facts.

Action plan

90 days, three phases, one goal

Days 1–30

Phase 1 · Foundation

Goal: you have an environment, your first developer and you know what to build.

  • Identify an internal candidate (business analyst, junior developer or power user), or plan a hire.
  • Enroll them in training: the Rapid Developer track is about 40 hours of learning.
  • Set up the environment: Mendix license, DEV/TEST, code repository.
  • Pick a Project Zero: a small, painful internal process (not a critical system).
  • Define the backlog of the first app with the business owner.

Results after 30 days: a certified Rapid Developer on the team, a ready environment, the Project Zero backlog approved by the business.

Phase 2 · First delivery

Goal: the first app is live and used by real users.

  • Build iteratively: 2-week sprints with a demo for the business after each one.
  • Involve the business owner in approving every sprint, don’t surprise them at the end.
  • Deploy to a test environment and gather feedback from future users.
  • Run a short end-user training session.
  • Go live in production.

Results after 60 days: a working app in production, active users, the first hard ROI number for a board report.

Phase 3 · Scalability

Goal: your organization knows how to repeat the success on its own.

  • Retrospective: what worked and what to change in the next project.
  • Document standards: naming conventions, architecture, review process.
  • Identify the next 3 projects with the business and prioritize them by ROI.
  • Assess the need to grow the team: a second developer, an architect, a CoE Lead.
  • Prepare a results presentation for the board: 90 days, one app, real savings.

Results after 90 days: a roadmap of the next 3 apps, documented team standards, a business case for growing the CoE ready for the board.

Let’s do it together

You can start on your own, this roadmap makes that possible. But if you want to save time and avoid the mistakes we’ve seen many times: let’s talk.

For many organizations it took exactly 90 days.
